Skin Cancer Surgery
Dr. Lewandowski performs a high volume of skin cancer excisions across both public and private hospital settings. His expertise encompasses the treatment of small, cosmetically sensitive lesions as well as large, complex tumours requiring advanced surgical techniques. He actively participates in the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH) Head and Neck Cancer multidisciplinary team (MDT) and is a key member of the RBWH Melanoma MDT, ensuring patients receive the most current and comprehensive treatment options available.

Lymphoedema
Dr. Lewandowski is a founding member of Queensland Lymphoedema Specialists (QLS) and offers surgical interventions for patients with lymphoedema.
Working collaboratively with your Lymphoedema Therapist, he provides both physiological procedures - such as Lympho-venous Anastomosis and flap surgeries - and decongestive techniques, including liposuction and open reduction.
Prior to consultation with Dr. Lewandowski, patients should undergo comprehensive assessment and non-surgical management by an Australian Lymphoedema Association (ALA)-qualified Lymphoedema Practitioner. These specialists can implement therapies such as manual tissue massage, compression, and other non-invasive techniques to reduce swelling.
Multidisciplinary Assessment
Dr. Lewandowski collaborates closely with Lymphoedema Practitioners—including Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists—radiologists, and other surgical specialists to evaluate each patient’s condition and determine the most appropriate treatment approach.
All patients are initially screened by their therapists and discussed during the QLS Multidisciplinary Team Meeting. This process ensures the development of a tailored, effective treatment plan for each individual.
Imaging and Evaluation
Indocyanine Green (ICG) Lymphangiography, available through Lymphoedema Queensland, is utilized to accurately assess the level of damage to the lymphatic channels, informing optimal treatment strategies.
Treatment Options
Surgical interventions may be performed as standalone lymphatic procedures or in conjunction with other treatments, such as breast reconstruction, depending on the patient’s individual needs.
Trauma and Nerve/Neuroma Reconstruction
Dr. Lewandowski regularly performs reconstructive surgeries for major traumatic injuries at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH) as well as in private practice. He actively participates in the Multi-Disciplinary Device-Related Infections MDT (mDRIFT) at RBWH, where he is responsible for the care of patients with complex infections affecting bone and soft tissue.
He is also dedicated to the management of post-traumatic neuromas, utilizing advanced microsurgical techniques to alleviate pain and mitigate phantom limb phenomena in amputees.
Facial Reconstruction
Dr. Lewandowski is a member of the RBWH Head and Neck Cancer MDT and routinely performs both public and private surgeries involving the resection and reconstruction of complex head and neck cancers. His collaborative approach ensures patients receive comprehensive treatment options tailored to their individual needs.
For patients who have completed cancer treatment but are experiencing residual scarring, eyelid contractures, or functional impairments, Dr. Lewandowski offers consultations for surgical procedures aimed at improving both function and aesthetic outcomes.
